Difficult economic times bring with them great challenges.

Not least of these challenges is the massive surge in applications for university places, up more than 31% year-on-year.  With places for home students tightly controlled there will now be too few places available to meet home grown demand.  Meanwhile our universities are free to provide as many places as they want to foreign students.

So if your from these shores don’t expect any sort of guarantee of a university place next year but expect our university campuses to be full of foreign fee paying students allowed to come and study here for no other reason than rules which disadvantage Scottish and British students.
