Award of The Week

Andy Murray

Posted in Award of The Week by ThinkScotland

He may have failed to win the Australian Open and to become the first British man for more than 70 years to win one of the tennis Grand Slam tournaments but Andy Murray became the first Scot ever to make the final in Melbourne - earning enough ranking points to make him No.3 in the world when new rankings are announced later this week.

No one would disagree that Roger Federer was a worthy winner but Andy showed glimpses of his own genius during the third set - and no one would doubt it is only a matter of time before he wins a place in Grand Slam history on merit!

For raising hopes and taking Scotland on a journey of highs and lows over the past 2 weeks, Andy Murray wins Think Scotland’s “Award of the Week”.
