Paul Holleran is the National Organiser for the National Union of Journalists. Based in Glasgow he represents around 4000 journalists and other media workers in Scotland in newspapers, broadcasting, public relations and research facilities (including Holyrood). Part of his work stretches to international relations and he is on the advisory board of the British Council media strategy body. Paul was also supportive of an award project encouraging young journalists to show interest in coverage of Europe. He recently spoke at conferences in Lithuania and Malta on journalistic standards and training. Under his supervision the NUJ has become the largest single training provider of media courses with the development of an on-line learning system, targeting literacy and grammar standards.
