Bob Leitch is currently Chief Executive of Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce & Industry having spent four years from 2001-2005 first of all as Parliamentary Officer with Scottish Chambers of Commerce and then as Director of Scottish Chambers of Commerce. He has been in the Chamber of Commerce movement since 1997 when he joined Ayrshire Chamber as Executive Director. Bob is currently in addition to his Chamber of Commerce post, Chairman of Ayrshire & Arran Tourism Partnership, Chair of Victim Support South Ayrshire, Chairman of Business Gateway International Trade for Ayrshire, a member of the Board of South West Energy Agency, Ayr College and South West Waste Partnership. Born in Gourock, Renfrewshire he is the only son of an engineering family. He was educated at Keil School in Dumbarton and pursued a banking career with the Royal Bank of Scotland which took him from his native Renfrewshire through Scotland’s two central belts cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh to Hertfordshire and Middlesex.

Bob started his career in banking in his home town of Greenock before having posts in various network branches, training, public relations, internal audit and communication departments. This created a career in banking that covered many facets of the business and which allowed him to develop a number of skills not generally associated with banking but which have allowed him to contribute effectively to his more recent career in the Chamber of Commerce.

Bob lives in Doonfoot, Ayrshire together with his wife Maureen. They have one grown-up son, Kenneth, who is pursuing a career in corporate communications.
