Andrew Laidlaw – Advisor

The question of Scotland in Europe is not just a political one; it has an impact on every business and individual in our country””

Andrew Laidlaw is a policy advisor in the Law Society of Scotland’s Brussels Office, representing the views of the solicitors’ profession on proposed legislation and policy to the EU institutions.

Andrew provides advice to the Society on a range of internal market legal matters of interest to the profession. Much of his work centres on raising awareness among solicitors of EU developments that will impact on their practice. He also works in a similar capacity for the Law Societies of England and Wales, and of Northern Ireland, which share the Brussels Office.

Andrew graduated from Glasgow University with an Honours degree in Law (European Law with French legal studies) in 1997, and has also studied at the Robert Schuman University in Strasbourg.

Prior to the Law Society, Andrew spent time working in the Directorate General for Trade in the European Commission and in the European Parliament as an assistant to Scottish MEP Elspeth Attwooll.
